At Paavendhar Engineering College, we are committed to providing our Mechanical Engineering students with a comprehensive and hands-on learning experience. Our Mechanical Engineering Lab is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge technologies to facilitate practical understanding and skill development.

Lab Facilities:

1.Strength of Materials Lab: The Strength of Materials Lab is designed to help students understand the behavior of different materials under various loading conditions. It is equipped with advanced testing machines such as universal testing machines, impact testing machines, hardness testers, and fatigue testing machines. Students can perform experiments to determine material properties, study stress and strain analysis, and evaluate structural behavior.

2.Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Machinery Lab: In this lab, students gain practical knowledge of fluid mechanics principles and the performance of hydraulic machinery. The lab is equipped with flow measurement devices, pumps, turbines, and other equipment to conduct experiments on fluid flow, pressure measurement, and the characteristics of hydraulic machines. Students learn to analyze and optimize fluid systems.

3.Thermodynamics Lab: The Thermodynamics Lab provides students with hands-on experience in studying the fundamental concepts of thermodynamics. It is equipped with modern apparatus such as calorimeters, boilers, refrigeration test rigs, and gas turbine setups. Students can perform experiments to analyze the behavior of thermodynamic systems, energy conversion processes, and refrigeration cycles.

4.Manufacturing Technology Lab: The Manufacturing Technology Lab focuses on enhancing students’ practical skills in various manufacturing processes. It is equipped with machining tools, welding equipment, casting facilities, and CNC machines. Students gain hands-on experience in operations like turning, milling, drilling, welding, and casting. They learn about the selection of manufacturing processes and the quality control of finished products.

5.CAD/CAM Lab: The CAD/CAM Lab provides students with a platform to develop proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software. The lab is equipped with advanced software tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, and CNC programming software. Students learn to design 3D models, simulate manufacturing processes, and generate CNC programs.

6.Mechatronics Lab: The Mechatronics Lab integrates mechanical, electrical, and control engineering principles. It is equipped with various mechatronics kits, sensors, actuators, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Students learn to design and develop mechatronic systems, including robotics, automation systems, and advanced control mechanisms.

7.Heat Transfer Lab: The Heat Transfer Lab focuses on the study of heat transfer phenomena and heat exchange equipment. It is equipped with experimental setups for conduction, convection, and radiation heat transfer. Students gain practical experience in measuring thermal conductivity, heat exchanger performance, and heat transfer coefficients.
